Artist Biography

Amna AlMemari (b. 1990, Abu Dhabi, UAE) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Abu Dhabi whose work investigates embodiment, Islamic mysticism, and transpersonal experience through sculpture and installation. Drawing on Sufi philosophy and the concept of Tawhid, she explores the porous boundaries between body and spirit, intuition and reason, and the material and immaterial, creating works that invite reflection on perception, consciousness, and interconnectedness.

 

AlMemari received a BFA in Visual Arts from Zayed University. Following her undergraduate studies, she completed the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF), through which she received a full scholarship from the Salama bint Hamdan Foundation to pursue an MFA in Sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

 

She has also worked as an assistant professor at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University.

 

Her work was presented by Ayyam Gallery at Art Dubai 2025. Alongside her artistic practice, AlMemari is engaged with questions of accessibility in art and arts education, particularly in relation to visually impaired audiences.
