Artist Biography
Andrew Riad

Andrew Riad (b. 2000, Cairo, Egypt) is a Coptic Nubian multidisciplinary artist, poet, and writer whose practice explores the intersections of poetry, performance, research, and archival inquiry. Working across text, moving image, sound, and installation, Riad reconsiders dominant historical narratives by foregrounding marginalized voices and overlooked archives. His work examines language as a site of memory, ritual, and transformation, proposing alternative histories and speculative futures through processes of imagination and collective remembrance.
Riad received a BA in Literature and Creative Writing and Legal Studies from New York University Abu Dhabi (2022) and an MFA in Writing from Pratt Institute, New York (2025). He is an alumnus of the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF). His work has been exhibited and published internationally, including at The Poetry Project, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, and the Museum of the Moving Image (New York), as well as 421 Arts Campus (Abu Dhabi), Bayt Al Mamzar and Alserkal Avenue (Dubai), and in publications such as Wasafiri, Mizna, and Makhzin Journal.
