Artist Biography

Dove Perspicacius began her career painting fairground rides for travelling carnivals  across northern France and Picardy, opening up a line of inquiry in which everyday labour and artistic practice became closely intertwined. 

 

She later developed an ex-voto workshop, producing painted wooden panels, ceramics, and embroidered works based on the deeply personal stories she collects. Conceived as a participatory service, the project invites anyone to commission a bespoke work inspired by a wish, memory, or significant life experience. After sharing their story in detail, each participant receives a custom-made artwork by post. 

 

In her ceramic practice, Dove Perspicacius primarily works with wild clay that she gathers herself. This process involves careful observation of landscapes and vegetation, the study of geological maps, research into the history of local extraction sites, and the adaptation of each form to the specific  properties of the clay. These encounters give rise to works that weave together personal narratives, symbols, and subtle references to art history.
