Artist Biography

Hugo Servanin’s practice centres on the creation of sculptures he calls Géants (Giants): hybrid beings first moulded from human bodies and then assembled using synthetic materials. Drawing on the aesthetics of classical sculpture while incorporating advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, his immersive installations explore the fragile, mutable, and ephemeral nature of the body. Through processes such as humidification, heat, ventilation, and mechanical circulation, his sculptures evolve over time, blurring the boundaries between the organic and the artificial. By combining traditional sculptural forms with technological systems, Servanin examines the promises and contradictions of contemporary society.
