Artist Biography

Mila Balzhieva (b.1991, Ulan-Ude, the Republic of Buryatia, Russia) is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher born in Buryatia and now based in Vienna. In her practice, Balzhieva explores the realms of multispecies conviviality, language, and Shamanism. Her artistic work is centered on textiles, plants, digital media, and drawing, delving into questions of identity, representation, the Anthropocene, and magic. She holds the degree of The University of Applied Arts Vienna in the Department of Art & Science.
