Artist Biography

Yan Tomaszewski is a Franco-Polish artist working at the intersection of art and cinema. His practice engages with subjects as diverse as the life of stones, the rights of rivers, cosmetic surgery, astrochemistry, and psychoanalysis. The hybrid body forms the common thread running through his work. His projects emerge from a documentary process that combines field research, studio practice, writing, and filmmaking. Working primarily with ceramic and glass, Tomaszewski creates sculptures that function both as autonomous works and as elements activated through performance or film.
