Call for Artists: Open Studio at NIKA Project Space Dubai 2026
Applications Open
This summer, NIKA Project Space transforms into an open studio, offering two UAE-based artists the opportunity to develop new work within a gallery setting. While most art spaces close for the summer, we are opening our doors for experimentation, dialogue, and public engagement. The final works will be presented in September at NIKA Project Space.
Application Deadline: May 17, 2026, 23:59 (UAE Time)
Residency Dates: June 1 – August 28, 2026
Final Exhibition: Opening in September 2026
Two selected artists will be provided with a dedicated studio inside the gallery and access to up to 3,000 AED in production support. Exhibition costs will be covered. NIKA Project Space does not cover travel and accommodation expenses, as the residency is intended for UAE-based artists.
The artists must be present in the space for at least 39 days during the residency. There is no specific theme, but alignment with the gallery’s artistic direction will be considered a plus.
To apply, please send your application to applications@nika-projects.com. Your submission should contain:
-
Portfolio PDF
-
CV and a short bio
-
A brief letter of interest with a project description of their planned work during the residency
The selected artists will be chosen by a jury of professionals: Rahel Aima (critic, editor, and co-director of the Bayt Al Mamzar Writing Residency), Ramin Rokni Hesam (artist collective), and Katherine Volk (art specialist, cultural advisor, and managing editor of Canvas magazine).
We look forward to your applications!
