Tea Performance by Minja Gu

NIKA Project Space invites you to participate in live performance by Minja Gu “House Tea de la Maison de la Casa”, 2023, a tea ceremony in which the artist invites all viewers to hundreds of tea infusions, invoking the role of participatory exchange. Artist prepares almost 100 different kinds of tea, dried herbs, dried flowers, dried fruits, spices etc. to infuse tea.

People who gather together will take time to choose the prepared ingredients and mix to make tea. For the tea gathering, Minja Gu specially made big ball shaped teapot, having 10 spouts pointing in all directions, as well as the tea cups. Performance participants will be helping each other to make tea and pour it.

This performance is set to take place at the NIKA Project Space as a part of “Coded Gestures” exhibition.
